Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychotherapist
I believe that my job as a psychotherapist is to help each person become more fully themselves and more authentic in their relationships. Part of the way that is accomplished is to provide a safe psychotherapeutic environment so that the healing process can unfold. I bring to the therapeutic relationship respect, compassion, and unconditional positive regard for each client. We work together to extend this approach to the unhealed and unloved parts of oneself. As a psychotherapist, my role is not to give advice but to serve as a guide through these inner worlds and I often use various forms of expressive therapy to assist in this process. My work is informed by my studies in art therapy, guided imagery, and Jungian psychotherapy to facilitate the communication with one's deeper self. I value the significant contribution relationships can make to learning about the self and this is reflected in my studies of attachment theory, object relations, and couples therapy and marriage counseling.
I have had over 25 years experience as a psychotherapist and have worked with people of all ages and from diverse backgrounds. I am a registered and board certified art therapist and trained in the Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) method of Helen Bonny. My doctorate is in Clinical Psychology from the Union Institute.
